< Go Back The Speyside Way Posted: Jun 19, 2020 Grantown On Spey - Dalvey Mains In October 2019, I revisited the well known long distance public footpath near to my home. The Speyside Way stretches for 66 miles from Buckpool to Aviemore through Morayshire, Banffshire and Inverness-shire.
The stretch I covered was from Grantown on Spey to Dalvey Mains, roughly a distance of 10 miles.
I always get cracking photo opportunities on the Speyside Way, and this trip was no exception. My first opportunity was in Anagach Woods which is a large woodland covering the area from Grantown to Cromdale a small village, the forest was quite bucolic with many parts of the wood changing colours with the onset of Autumn.
After leaving the wood, I crossed over the River Spey, and took some great images of the Cromdale Station House. The Cromdale Station House was the old GNoSR station before the line closed down and the station was then sold and is now a thoroughly charming house with lots of railway memorabilia.
I carried on to the Tom an Uird woodland, which was quite strenuous and very quiet with a number of climbs and downward paths, before I came out back on the main road at Dalvey Mains. I took a number of pictures of the Spey , before heading off home.
